Countries that are water scarce are challenged with transforming to sustainably resource-intensive economy. The adequate provision of water to the citizens of water scarce countries is one of the most significant challenges. This is particularly relevant in the rapidly-urbanising areas owing to the fact that they are hubs of economic growth, and could without proper management become major drivers for increased water demand. It has become evident that alternative, systems-based approaches to conventional water management of water supply and ensuring water quality are required.
Another major challenge in the drier countries is the degradation of the rivers and streams outside of the urban/settlement areas. This is due the low quality storm water leaving these areas and ultimately it is our communities that suffer. Why the need for a change in the water management; briefly rain falls on the urban surfaces (i.e. roads, parking areas) and the current way for us to handle is this to get rid of water by construction of drains, canals etc. Ultimately, this water is allowed to runoff out of the urban/settlement areas as fast as possible and into the streams, further adding to the degradation of the river systems. We are polluting the rivers and stream outside the urban/settlement areas and we do not harvest this water, which should be looked at as a resource.
Gary Morgan through ENVIROSOURCE has a vision to change this and has identified a means to begin to alleviate these two main issues. His strong background in water, waste and remediation and social development initiatives want to see improvement and better living conditions of people within their communities through Water Sensitive Design Principles.
ENVIROSOURCE (Pty) Ltd is a multi-disciplinary Water Specialist and Environmental Management Company which was established in 2012. The company aims to provide consulting expertise on planning, managing and monitoring, ultimately promoting a holistic approach towards sustainable solutions within the environmental sector. Our principle focus is on the disciplines of water and land/soil and aspects of environmental management servicing that of:
Our consultants will also provide expertise in the development of various environmental management tools, including strategic environmental assessment (SEA's), State of Environment Reporting (SOER), Integrated Development Plans (IDP's), Environmental Management Plans (EMP), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), Ecological Water Requirements (EWR), Environmental risk assessment, environmental auditing, environmental performance monitoring and social impact assessment (SIA).
ENVIROSOURCE aims to be an integral part of an organisations successful business strategy in the management towards sustainable solutions and performances.
ENVIROSOURCE has specialist consultants for the scientific, engineered and environmental services with specific focus on water and soils. We provide a complete range services toward;
Our specialists have experience with a range of industrial, mining and environmental issues on projects, relating to the acquisition, permitting, operational, closure and understanding of the risks involved. Our specialists have experience in environmental auditing and we have been involved in evaluating and developing comprehensive and effective environmental management systems.
Our field sampling services including the collection of physical, chemical and biological parameters. We are trained in sampling protocols for surface and groundwater sources. We customise a schedule and specific protocols to meet the needs of specific sites and within the required holding times of specific parameters.
Our specialists have comprehensive skills related to water issues. Projects range from catchment and water resources modelling, hydrological and hydraulic modelling, storm water management, flood attenuation, flood delineation, mine water management/balances, erosion management, data collection and analysis of surface water and water quality, establishment of surface water experimental design and set-up of monitoring systems.
We understand surface and groundwater interactions, sub-surface flow processes, subsurface and groundwater instrumental networks, performing and analyzing hydraulic tests, techniques for estimating sub-surface flow parameters, sub-surface and groundwater modelling. We have extensive experience in the development, management of groundwater resources and will design and implement the monitoring services.
We offer a comprehensive water quality management solution and design management and treatment systems. Our specialists have extensive experience in understanding of water chemistry and quality assurance standards, establishment of water quality experimental design and set-up, understanding of environmental regulations and guidelines. We provide cost effective solutions.
We offer comprehensive services to waste management and solutions to planning, designing and pollution control of facilities.
We have experience with the assessment and remediation of contaminated sites (including metals, hydrocarbons, chlorinated solvents, and a range of hazardous wastes) from the petrochemical, real estate, manufacturing, transportation, metal processing and port industries. We have Comprehensive understanding of soil chemistry and quality assurance standards, understanding of environmental regulations and guidelines, field investigation programs, drilling, test pitting, soil sampling, monitoring well installations, aquifer testing, groundwater and surface water sampling.
Our specialist have been involved in the development of integrated approaches toward mine water management. We aim to provide cost effective solutions which ultimately aim to meet the regulatory compliance.
